Our Director of Operations, Corey Capps, recently celebrated ten years with us here at Mediaura. While Corey has been with us for ten years, he built his first website over twenty years ago. In honor of his recent accomplishment, we asked Corey a few questions. As he fields many of our calls at the office, we thought you might like to know about the man behind the friendly voice.
What is your fantasy role?
I’m a problem solver and try to fill that role, but it’s often frustrating for people who work with me as I play devil’s advocate in the early stages of a project.
What is your actual role at Mediaura?
Director of Operations is my title, but I fill in for developers, designers, and account reps as needed.
What is your “why?”
Our business relies on us solving problems for clients. Finding customers, handling an abundance of customers, and making a client better than their competitor is the core of our business. When we can genuinely solve those problems for a client, there’s no better feeling.
Any advice?
Maintain a work/life balance so that you’re happy in both.
What’s your educational background?
Some college, degree pursued in Psychology with minors in Theatre and Religion.
What are your hobbies?
D & D, Reading, Boardgames, Woodworking, Gardening.
What’s your nerd level?
7.5 – higher than average, but I hang out with some super nerds, so I feel like I know a few 9s and 10s.
What do you nerd out about?
D & D, Hellboy, Game of Thrones, TMNT.
What’s your favorite fictional character?
Hellboy.
Who would play you in a movie about your life?
Me, unless I’m dead, then I guess Gary Oldman, he can play anyone.
What are your passions?
Human rights, equality, freedom of choice.
What’s your design philosophy?
My aesthetic is symmetry and san-serif web-friendly fonts. I advocate for comic-sans at every opportunity. Functionality is so much more important than design, see Craigslist, Reddit, etc.
If you could only use one app or website for the rest of your life what would it be?
Facebook. I can message people, schedule events, find events, argue about anything that’s ever happened, save pictures . . . it’s really a monster, but I love it.
What do you brake for?
Everything. I’m a notoriously cautious driver.
